How It Works: Installer Guide

A comprehensive guide for GateControlX installers

Getting Started as an Installer

To become a GatecontrolX installer:

  1. Contact our team through the Contact Us page or email admin@gatecontrolx.com
  2. Our team will register you as an installer in our system
  3. You'll receive your login credentials via email
  4. Access the installer dashboard at https://gatecontrolx.com/dashboard/login/

Hikvision Device Setup

Prerequisites

Before creating an estate in GatecontrolX, prepare your Hikvision devices:

  1. Ensure each Hikvision MinMoe terminal has power connected
  2. Connect all devices to the internet (via Wi-Fi or Ethernet)
  3. Verify that devices have not been previously linked to any HikConnect accounts

Device Configuration

To prepare each device for GatecontrolX:

  1. Access the device's local web interface or use the Hikvision configuration tool
  2. Navigate to Network Settings > Platform Access
  3. Enable HikConnect settings
  4. Set or check the device's verification code:
    • It may be pre-configured from the factory
    • You can set or change it on the Platform Access page
    • Make sure to document this code for later use
  5. Ensure the device shows "Online" status in the HikConnect settings
  6. Record the device's serial number and verification code for later use

Important Notes

  • If the device is already linked to another HikConnect account, it will not work with GatecontrolX
  • To use a previously linked device, it must be unbound from its current HikConnect account
    • Simply have the device deleted from the existing HikConnect account to unbind it
    • Note that factory resetting will NOT remove HikConnect binding
  • The verification code is case-sensitive and must be entered exactly as shown
  • The system uses minimal bandwidth for most operations, with slightly higher usage only when uploading photos

Estate Setup Process

1. Create Estate

Add estate details including name, location, and contact information

2. Link First Device

Connect your first Hikvision device using serial number and verification code

3. Wait for Approval

Our admin team will review and approve your estate setup

4. Add More Devices

After approval, continue adding additional devices as needed

Creating a New Estate

  1. Log in to your installer dashboard
  2. Click on the "+ Create Estate" button
  3. Fill in the estate details:
    • Estate name
    • Location/address
    • Contact information
    • Number of residences
  4. Click Submit to proceed to device linking

Linking the First Device

Immediately after creating an estate:

  1. You'll be automatically directed to the "Link Device" page
  2. Enter the first device's information:
    • Device serial number (from your Hikvision MinMoe terminal)
    • Verification code (from the device)
  3. Select the device type:
    • Entrance Gate: First point of entry to the estate
    • Middle Gate: Internal access points within the estate
    • Exit Gate: Points where residents/visitors leave (important for QR code revocation)
  4. Submit the device information
  5. Once the first device is linked, your estate will be submitted for approval

Approval Process

After linking the first device:

  1. Your estate submission will be reviewed by our admin team
  2. You'll receive an email notification once the estate is approved
  3. The estate administrator will receive a welcome email with their login credentials
  4. Once approved, you can begin linking additional devices

Linking Additional Devices

After estate approval:

  1. Go to your installer dashboard
  2. Select the approved estate
  3. Navigate to "Link Device"
  4. Enter the device details as before
  5. Submit for approval
  6. Each additional device will need approval before becoming active
  7. You'll receive email confirmation when each device is approved

Monitoring Your Estates

Dashboard Overview

Your installer dashboard provides comprehensive monitoring:

  • View all estates you've created
  • See the status of pending and approved estates
  • Monitor device status (online/offline) across all estates
  • Track the total number of devices and their current status

Device Status Monitoring

Keep track of all installed devices:

  1. Navigate to the "Devices" section of your dashboard
  2. View online/offline status of each device
  3. See when a device was last active
  4. Filter devices by estate for easier management

Accessing Estate Dashboards

As an installer, you can temporarily access estate admin dashboards:

  1. From your installer dashboard, find the estate you need to manage
  2. Click "Access Estate Dashboard"
  3. You'll be logged in as the estate admin
  4. When finished, click "Return to Installer" to switch back to your installer account

Commission Management

Track your earnings:

  1. Navigate to the "Commissions" section
  2. View all estates where you earn commission
  3. See payment status and commission amounts
  4. Monitor your total earnings

Troubleshooting Common Issues

Device Connection Problems

If a device shows as offline:

  1. Check physical power and network connection
  2. Verify the device has internet access
  3. Ensure the verification code was entered correctly
  4. Confirm the device is not linked to another HikConnect account
  5. If problems persist, contact support@gatecontrolx.com

Estate Approval Delays

If an estate is pending approval for more than 24 hours:

  1. Check your email for any requests for additional information
  2. Verify all required fields were completed accurately
  3. Contact support@gatecontrolx.com for status updates

Best Practices for Installers

Pre-Installation Planning

  • Verify network coverage at all device locations
  • Ensure power availability for each device
  • Document all serial numbers and verification codes before installation

Estate Configuration

  • Create logical naming conventions for devices (e.g., "North Gate Entrance")
  • Set up devices in the correct sequence (entrances first, then middle gates, exits last)
  • Test each device thoroughly after installation

Client Education

  • Provide a brief overview of the system to estate management
  • Explain the facial registration and QR code processes
  • Show how to access the Telegram bot for resident management
